Defenestration and the Little Fool

Fly, fly

out of the window

all chartreuse eyes alive

she becomes a room with a view

where the wind hums

and she listens as I softly burn

a pretty little patsy

who interrupted my toast

and my awful day

with red hair

and a lovely, coarse remark

about the despotism of the petticoat

she didn’t allow me to remain self-satisfied

but instead argued

that we know very little about it all

(oppressed by the figures of beauty)

and that whiskey never helps

to find a winter sky

for flight

(for Grace)
