no violent priors

we settled it in the streets

the blood and a hush

following you close

silence singing of nobility

a scar sitting on the skin

instead of a docket itching

to quantify our sin

day you go out, day you go in

a plastic cup of bathtub gin

and the preacher

on the train

says that even we can change
